CHRIS KELLY / HONG KONG DREAMING

Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated cities in the world, yet for the outsider the urban landscape can feel lonely and alien, imbued with a sense of isolation and melancholic nostalgia. Travelling into China’s interior, you are met with a country of paradoxes, whilst undergoing massive economic development it somehow manages to retain a kind of dreamlike, painterly beauty; from the Hopper-esque views of Hong Kong at night to the landscapes shrouded in smog and mystery, like a modern day Turner.
